Ponder

In the second half of life, we begin to understand that we are part of something bigger than ourselves. We glimpse the great mystery of life. We discover at a deep level what it means to be children of a merciful and loving God. We recognise that who we are in relation to God is more important than anything that we do. We begin to see that God’s love can flow through us and touch other people.

Pray

Loving God, help me to see myself as you see me. Fill me with your love. Let me be a conduit of your love to other people – especially those who are suffering in any way or struggling with doubts and sadness. Amen.

Practice

Put a stick-it note on your mirror with the words, “God’s image,” as a reminder that you were made in the image and likeness of God who loves you completely and unconditionally. Thank God every day for the gift of your life. Thank God for the gift of family members and friends who love you.
